Filters in BoostSecurity¶
The Filters functionality in BoostSecurity provides powerful capabilities for navigating, organizing, and analyzing large volumes of findings and violations. Filters are accessible across multiple sections of the platform and are designed to help streamline vulnerability management and data review processes.
Overview¶
Filters in BoostSecurity enable teams to quickly locate, group, and act on specific subsets of security data. The interface is designed to balance flexibility with usability—allowing for deep, granular filtering without overwhelming the user experience.
Filtering is divided into four key sections:
Each section provides a specific function to help refine and customize the dataset being viewed.
Search For¶
The Search For field allows for keyword-based filtering across multiple attributes of findings and violations. It is designed to support wide-reaching queries while respecting any filters already applied.
Searchable Fields¶
The search scope will be detailed in the field on each page. For example, on the Findings page, the searchable fields include Group Name, Rule Name, Original Rule ID, Organization Name, and others. Meanwhile, on the Scanner Provisioning page, searchable fields include Policy Type, Provisioning Status, and more.
Search operates across all included fields and works in combination with other filters for more precise results.
Filter By¶
The Filter By section contains the primary controls for applying filters to the data.
- Commonly used filters are displayed by default
-
Additional filters can be accessed through the More menu.
-
All filters can be combined to narrow down the result set
This section is used to define specific parameters for findings or violations such as severity levels, rule categories, project or repository attributes, and more.
Group Into¶
Group Into is used to change how the data is organized within the view. Grouping makes it easier to explore findings by key attributes, helping identify patterns or recurring issues.
- Multiple grouping options are available (e.g., by repository, rule, vulnerability class)
- Only one grouping criterion can be active at a time
- Grouping can be toggled on or off with a single click
This functionality enables a more structured analysis of large result sets.
Visualize¶
The Visualize section offers control over which categories of data are displayed.
- Options include showing only Findings, only Violations, or both
- Toggling off both views displays a unified dataset across categories
This section is especially useful when performing comparative assessments or generating holistic reports from the platform.
Use Cases¶
Filters in BoostSecurity are suitable for a wide range of use cases:
- Quickly locating findings of a specific severity within a project
- Identifying all violations linked to a particular rule group
- Grouping findings by repository for cross-team triage
- Running scoped searches to audit exposures in a specific codebase
